My Name is Tim Schilcher,
and I'm the owner of MyoFitness Personal Training. My goal is
simple: I want to help you reach your own fitness goals and be
everything you want to be.
A
lifelong passion for fitness
My passion for fitness started at an early age. My older brother
introduced me to lifting weights when I was 14 years old; he stuck
with it for about six months and I stuck to it for 25 years. I
played football all through grade school and high school and received
a scholarship to play football at Fairmont State WV.
I am a Physical Therapy Technician and Nurse Assistant with
certification from Harmarville Training Institute, and I worked
as a Physical Therapy Technician for three years. I continued
my education at Gannon University, where I received a B.S degree
in Science and Pre-Physical Therapy. I was accepted into the Masters
program at Gannon, but withdrew from the program with two health
classes left because I realized that completing the program wasn't
the route to fulfilling my dream. I didn't want to work through
the bureaucracy of HMOs, or struggle with non-compliant patients
who weren't really interesting in increasing their level of fitness.
My goal was, is, and always will be helping other people develop
a passion for fitness and meet their own personal fitness goals.
I am not a licensed Physical Therapist or Assistant nor do I
practice Physical Therapy modalities. I use my education to help
prevent injuries and heal minor soft tissue injuries by stretching
and implementing the proper exercises.
Experience with both professional and
student athletes
My passion for fitness and sports has led me to persue the NASM
(National Academy of Sports Medicine) Performance Enhancement
Certification, which is the gold standard in personal training
certifications. Working with athletes to help them improve their
performance is one of my specialties and I was the trainer for
the Pittsburgh Cross Fire Lacrosse team in 1999. I've also worked
with other professional athletes including Gordy Gronkowski of
the L.A Angels and pro soccer player Luke Heasley of the PGH River
Hounds. In addition, I've worked extensively with student athletes,
including the Shady Side Academy and Fox Chapel Hockey teams,
as well as many individual student athletes who went on to play
for Division One colleges and universities.
A lifetime of dedication to the Personal
Training field
I love the Personal Training field because it focuses on full
body fitness, not just an arm, shoulder or back. I discovered
the field almost two decades ago, while I was on a vacation break;
I observed a personal trainer at a local gym and knew I had found
the way to realize my dream of sharing my own passion for fitness.
Since that time I've been dedicated to helping athletes and non-athletes
alike set and meet fitness goals that improve their health, their
performance, their appearance, and their whole life.
I have been training people for 17 years and running my own
fitness business for 11 years. I employ a staff of 26 trainers
and just started managing Alexander’s Athletic Clubs training
department. I am also opening up a group personal training studio
in Millvale.
I have such a passion for this field that it feels like I haven’t
worked a day in my life.
